Welcome!
Welcome!
For several years, I have been contemplating what “The Fear of God” (or the “The Fear of the LORD”) means. As you read the Bible, particularly the old testament, you’re hit again and again with that phrase, and usually with promises of what God is going to do for those that fear him – bless them, make them happy, etc. But that’s a puzzling concept. First of all, if God is good and loving, why do we need to fear him? Secondly, what exactly do we do to fear him?
The more I contemplated these ideas, the more I wanted to do a “deep dive” and really seek to gain an understanding of it. And, I reasoned, if I’m interested in this, there may be others that are as well. So I purposed to consolidate my findings into a book. This blog is going to serve as a “scratchpad” where I can dump my ideas as I come up with them, chew on them, re-organize them, and see what comes out the other side before actually writing that book. Consequently, the blog content here may, at times, be pretty “raw” and unpolished. Reasoning may not always be as coherent as you might expect, and some arguments may terminate abruptly without reaching a conclusion. I hope you’ll bear with me.
So it’s really a vehicle for my own use, and, while I don’t care who else sees it, I’m not making any efforts to “pretty it up”. But if you happen to have found it, welcome, and come back often. Your comments are welcome. However, in an effort to reduce spam, I am requiring that you be registered on this site and logged in in order to leave comments.
